Christmas Kitchen Valance Tutorital- No Sew!

Hi Everyone!  Hope you are having a wonderful day.  Wanted to show you an easy, easy, no sew, valance that I did for my kitchen window for Christmas last year .  (Did I say I'm a semi-homemade decorator)??  Luv, easy things to make.

I started with a new kitchen towel (red & white stripe) and placed about it horizontally over the rod (top of towel about 2" over the rod and secure with straight pins on the back).  I initially used scotch tape to hold it on the back, but please don't do that!  Learned the hard way;  when the heat came on, I had pieces falling into my sink. (Help, the sky is falling- what to do??)

You could also use hot glue if you like, or fusible tape and iron on.  The fusible tape would probably be better for the horizontal towel.  Then, maybe just hot glue, pin or staple the side napkins.  I may try this next time, I really think it will do much better.  Don't do what I did....it's a lot easier if you take your rod down and do this on your counter top - duh?  I did mine standing up on the counter top - not too balanced might I add :) :) -that's nothing new :(

OK, that worked great!  Then, I took two of my red cloth (and one white ) silky holiday napkins and placed 3 at each side of the window.  (White/Red/White).

Hold the napkin by one of the points and shake down (it falls right into the shape you want).

Hold the napkin by the point and fold over the rod about 1"  and staple, pin or hot glue from the back. Whatever works for you best.

Next, do the same with the 2nd & 3rd towel  (place second towel a little over the top of 1st one and so forth, so they look layered (see picture below).  Then, do the same on the right side of the window.

Sorry, this is the picture after the "sky was falling".  I now remember I had three napkins on each side, which covered up more of the rod.   I had a white/red/white napkin on each side.

Simple and I had so many compliments!  Of course, my kitchen horizontal towel was almost the same length of my rod (your napkins will cover the rest of the rod.  If your rod is larger, you may have to use 2 - 3 towels placed horizontally on your rod and more napkins hanging on the sides.  Just overlap them a bit.

Just think of the possibilities with different colored towels/napkins to match your decor and all for about $6.00 approximately -Wohoo!.

Well, my chicken is calling me to the oven, I better go.,

Have a great day and many blessings,

Please leave a comment below if you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer you!  Check back often, I will try to post a new Christmas pic each day.  I know, it's not Thanksgiving yet, but a girl has to be prepared! :)
