Do you have all your Christmas decorations down yet?   I finally have all the Christmas trimmings and decorations down - except the tree which hubby has to bag and find a new place for. Phew!   Now, I just have to clean.-UUUGH!!..:( :(   I really wish I had a Fairy Godmother to make everything spic-n-span and all I had to do was decorate.  As my Fairy Godmother hasn't come around yet...(if you see her, please send her my way), I guess it looks like I will have to make the effort.   But, don't you like how everything looks afterwards, so, clean, fresh and pretty at least for a week or two maybe?  Reminder: next year use gift cards for Housekeeper!  What a nice way to start the new year.

I am celebrating my one year "Bloganniversary" on January 4, 3013.  It's been a long road, but an enjoyable one for this newbie.  I can't believe it's been a whole year already.  I have had such fun blogging and finding new, amazing blogs I never knew where out there. Still have soooo much to learn.   I want to thank all my friends and followers for your support and for stopping by to visit.

To start the new year, I've given my blog (FTD) Favorite Things Decor a new color and will be working on some other new additions.  I need some new, refreshing colors occasionally don't you?  Well, the natural colors (browns, tans, creams, etc.) are always a favorite of mine along with the blue's and aqua's.  (I think I used to be a mermaid) :) :)    I  also will be adding a list of all the new decorating blog's I am following which are awesome!

I took this picture that was in one of my catalogs.  Doesn't it look great sitting on top of the clay pottery?
Original retail price $59.99  (Pic does not do it justice)

Well,  I better leave well enough alone, blogger is not cooperating very well with me today.  I will post some more soon. Hurry and "join me" and don't forget to leave your comment and email address!  Good Luck!
Til Then,
Blessings, Carol

Christmas 2012 Williamsburg Apple Tree

Hi! Here I am again.  Come on in!  I will be posting 2012 Christmas Decor this coming week.  The first thing I did this year was to make a "Apple Tree".  I found the inspiration and directions from Susan's blog at "Between Naps On The Porch", who does a wonderful job.  I wish I could take pictures like she does.  Well, here goes.

I first asked by husband if he could make me the wooden cone shaped base.  He didn't answer me right away (he was thinking), but he loves a challenge.  It did take him quite a while to finish the base as he used a pine log and had to shape it and then place the nails in.  That was the hardest part - Whew -not me....him!

This was after three rows of large apples.  I think next year, we will cut about 4" off the top, it was a little bit higher than what we planned, but thought it worked out well.  Just push the apples onto the nails and stagger each row.

View from top.

Wha-la!  It took 4 rows of apples.  Three rows of large and one row of small at the top. Then a pretty pineapple is centered on top.  Fill in between apples with some small greenery from your yard.  I used boxwood around the base of the pineapple and the bottom was covered by just placing pine branches and other greenery around the base.  I have had this up for about one week and the aroma is wonderful when you pass by (apples, pineapple and pine).  I will have to replace some of the greenery poked in between the apples as they are wilting a little due to the heat being on.  I just love it though.  It took three bags of apples.  Next year, will only take about 2 bags of apples as we will shorten it.  I believe this base was about 15" tall and then you have to add the pineapple on top.

If you would like a step by step tutorial, please go to "Between Naps On The Porch'' where Susan does a great job.  Thanks Susan!

Till then,
Many Blessings,
Carol

Christmas

Hello there!  It's a cloudy day here in Texas, so what a better time than to blog??  Hope everyone is well and making headway on their "lists" for Christmas.  I still haven't make any cookies yet, :( but plan to do so one day next week, hopefully (with the grand kids).  I try to get all my shopping finished (try), so I can dedicate at least one day for baking.  I did make our traditional
Japanese Fruit Cake" which was originally made by my husband's mother years ago.  I have made one every year for appx. 44 yrs.  I will post the recipe soon- it's yummy!

This was last year's Christmas Decor for our entryway....did I mention that I love snow?  We don't get very much here, so I have to improvise. :)  There is a battery operated candle inside the church and when all it lit up, it looks so glittery and peaceful.

A Saviour Is Born Who Is Christ The Lord!

Sleep in Heavenly Peace!

My wish for you this Christmas is:    Gods' Peace, Joy, Comfort, Hope and Love for you and all your loved ones.  He is our Saviour and our Hope!  May God Bless Us All!

I know your hearts are heavy as mine is for all the families and everyone involved in the horrible incident in Connecticut.  May God send all of you His comfort and peace.  We are all praying for you and our Nation.  God Bless America.  One day every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!

Till Then,
Many Blessings!

Carol

P.S.  I will be uploading this year's Christmas photo's soon.  Maybe today??  Check back soon.

Christmas 2011 Decor

Hi Everyone!  Thanks for stopping by.  How do you like the new Christmas colors?   If you are like me, I have to be in the "mood" to decorate.  Sadly, I have been a little under the weather lately, so I have a lot of catching up to do.  Put some Christmas music on and wha-la......I was cured! :)  Here are some pics of Christmas 2011 decorations.  I will be posting this year's soon.  Stop by again soon!

My daughter, Darla and our baby yorkie, "Munchie" at Christmas.  I "wish" I knew then that I should have opened the door - duh?  I actually had not started "blogging" then - am I forgiven?

MERRY CHRISTMAS SANTA!

Grandchildren are my favorite Christmas present!  From the top to the left : Zachary, Teale, Saylor & Lake.

Manger given to us by my Mother and Father 44 years ago for our first Christmas together!  Amazingly, it still looks new.  Hubby was looking on the bottom of the figurines while I was putting it up and they say, "Made in Italy".  Wow, we did not know that.  That star you see on the top was made by my Dad before he went to be with the Lord.  They didn't have very much money that year, so he said he would make one - my Mom laughing all the time.  (My Dad loved Christmas and all the Holidays and made sure everyone was happy).  He never knew how precious that small aluminum foil star would be to me and my family every year, because he made it and it touched his hands.  What a very, very special lasting gift to us. (Jesus is everywhere, you just have to look for Him).  I wrap a string of white lights all around it and it looks amazing at night!  After all, Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
