Patriotic Tablescape and Door Basket

Thank all of you who posted decor for the 4th of July and all the patriotic holidays.  You have inspired me to try one myself (with what I had on hand).  Soooo, I scoured the house looking for red, white and blue.  I found lots of red and white but not blue.  So I had to improvise with the blue a bit.

There is something about this bow that reminds me of the old man who was always going after bugs bunny with a shot gun.  Can you remember his name?? lol :)  :)  :)

These were given to Mr. "N" after 9/11 - I believe it was Cynthia who was somber and staring at our flag and snapped this amazing photo right after 9/11.   We will never forget!   God Bless America!

Last but not least is the front basket decorated for the 4th.  It didn't fit on my door with the screen door, so I placed on the brick just opposite the front door.

Front of house with a little red, white and blue.

Close up of basket all ready for the 4th!  This was so easy.  The basket was given to me by my sweet daughter-in-law.  I had the bunch of flowers from Home Interior that I've had for quite a while.  Just put them inside and added the bow/ribbon that I got last year at the dollar store.

Thanks for all your inspirations.  I do have to get some more blue to keep on hand though.  Have a great day.

Summertime Decor Redo

Hey Everyone!  What can I say?   I just have a thing...for the beach.  I moved around some pieces I had from last year and took the picture from my master bath and found it a new home in the living room for a while.  (Click on the pic to enlarge)... I really need a new camera Santa!!

Right side of mantle. (Sorry for the fuzzy picture).

Left side of mantle.

These votives are placed on the right side of the Entryway.  Turned some soy candles I had made in these little stemmed crystal dessert glasses upside down and placed the votive on top.  This aqua color really pops and looks amazing when lit in the evening!
Found this cute little guy at Big Lots the other day.  Picked him up for $5.00!  One of his legs was unattached and I asked them if they would take less (never hurts to ask).  I think it was originally marked down to $8.00 from $12.99.  All I had to do was a little (surgery) hot glue on his foot (he didn't mind at all- although he did fly around a bit! :) :)   He found a nice home on my dining room table right in the center of the magnolia flowers in the white urn (must have had some water in there).  I think I'll dub him "Lefty".

Same photo as the one above, just without the background light.  Which one do you like the best - with or without the background light?

Hope you see something to inspire you and have a wonderful Summer!

Hello Everyone!  It's hot here today in East Texas, sooo....I thought what's a girl to do??  Blog!  How is your weather?

Wanted to share some treasures we found at a Thrift Shop during my trip to North Carolina.

Couldn't resist this adorable tea pot with Peter Rabbit for $5.00!

Also found this silver shell dish.  Just shined it up a bit and
wha-la!  Only gave $3.00 for it.
Don't forget to hit those Thrift Shops ladies, you always find something you just have to have and it's a lot of fun.  Did I mention, thrifty?  Whoo-Hoo!

I will post some more Summertime decor tomorrow, so please come on back and visit.

Charleston, S.C. Tour and Road Trip

Hi everyone!  No, I didn't fall off the face of the earth....just came back from a wonderful vacation and road trip.  We started by visiting Gulf Shores, Alabama, at the amazing beach with beautiful white sand.  Then to see family in North Carolina, where we devoured delectable, real, old time, Southern Cooking by Mr. N's two sisters. Last, but not least, Charleston, South Carolina and Isle of Palms Beach...whew!  Long trip with a few setbacks ( we took our R.V. - which we won't dwell on )  :( - but overall a great get-a-way!

Ask me what my favorite was??  We enjoyed everything and especially visiting family, but definitely, Charleston, South Carolina and the Isle of Palms were a jewel.  We stayed in a beautiful campground in Mt. Pleasant and the beach was only 7 miles from there.  I had never been to Historic Charleston and it was so amazing.

Wanted to share some photos of Charleston and all the beautiful homes with those grand columns and to die for porches.  Please excuse some of the photos, I took several from inside the car.

Walking around the "Battery"  - Out in the distance on the water is Fort Sumpter.

Took a few different angles of this home - I just loved it!

This pastel blue color really got my attention.

Driving around the "Battery" (see the cannons on the left?)

Loved the color of this front door!

These homes were so amazing to see.  I could live here - anywhere - wouldn't you?
And, don't forget, several beaches (Isle of Palms, Folley Beach, etc.) are just minutes away!

Do you receive "Southern Lady Magazine"?
I was really surprised when I returned from vacation and found my new issue.  Guess what was on the cover?  Charleston, S.C.!  I was really surprised.  They also did a few pages on "Isle of Palms"!  I read it from cover to cover.  I think I may have a photo of the House on their cover with the gorgeous porch.  I will look and let you know.  Isn't that a nice coincidence?

Well, glad to be home.  I have to get caught up on things around the know how it is....2 weeks worth of mail, bills, etc. and did I mention - Laundry??  Does it ever end??  Oh well, small price to pay for such a great vacation.  Hope you are having a great summer!

'Til Then,

Many Blessings,
